University employees set for 2 percent pay raise
News

Gearhart told the Northwest Arkansas Times on Thursday that the university has made salaries a high priority but that it's difficult to provide raises when the state fails to provide any new funding.

Classified employees include support staff such as administrative assistants and janitors. They received a pay adjustment on July 1 to match similar adjustments for the university's state employees. But officials say some of the school's classified workers had not received a pay raise for cost of living for two years.

The pay raises will take effect on Jan. 1. Staff Senate Chairwoman Angela Black says the raises "will help families maintain a living wage."
