Catch the next Tales From the South (Dinner & Show) at the Argenta Branch library, Tues., Oct. 7, 6-8 p.m., featuring Dr. Daniel Black.

Originally from rural Arkansas, Dr. Black is professor of African American Studies at Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College. His newest release, The Coming, is a first-hand account of the trauma and triumph of Africans on a slave ship in the 16th century. Early reviewers are deeming this work “brilliant”, “poetic”, “a literary homage to the lives of those Africans tossed into the sea.” It will be released in the next several months. Dr. Black is currently in the final stages of a brand new novel titled Listen to the Lambs. This work explores the lives and agency of homeless people who find each other on the street and create heaven out of nothing.

Live Music by The Salty Dogs and Bluesman Mark Simpson. Dinner will be catered by Trio’s Restaurant. Tickets available at http://www.lamantales3.eventbrite.com
