PINE BLUFF, Ark. (UAPB) – The Gospel Extravaganza remains one of the most popular events at the beginning of Homecoming Week at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) for students, alumni and the community.

This year the event will feature Season 7 BET© Sunday Best contestant Rome Washington. Sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA) the event will be held Sunday, November 2 in the J.M. Ross Theatre of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Rome Nicole Washington was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Music always played a major role in her family - she began singing at the age of 5. Growing up, singing was a major part of her life. She tried out for Sunday Best in 2012 and 2013 but was declined. After two times of trying out, she decided to try for a final time. In March of 2014, she traveled to Houston to audition. This is where she met Steven “Spud” Howard. After passing the auditions, they both received calls stating that they had advanced to the top 20.

The journey for Sunday Best had just begun. Now, she travels all around the nation spreading the gospel and fulfilling her dreams.
