PINE BLUFF, AR (January 28, 2016) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) continues to expand its portfolio of innovative STEM programs to help ensure a diverse and well-prepared U.S. STEM workforce.

UAPB received an award from the Carl D. Perkins Technical Education Act of 2006 from the Arkansas STEM Coalition, in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education and the Arkansas Department of Career Education to support the 2016 Girls in STEM Conference. With the theme, “Ladies STEMulated to Learn,” the one-day conference will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm in the STEM Building and Conference Center. The event is free, however, registration is required to attend.

The conference will help address the need to tap the talent of the girls who will become the women of tomorrow with engaging and productive STEM careers.  Its purpose is to inspire girls to pursue collegiate careers in STEM areas by participating in coding, forensic science, electronics technology, and chemical experiments, as well as interacting with professionals in STEM related fields.

Female students in grades 10th – 12th and college freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to attend.  Registration is open now and will close on February 26, 2016.  The registration form is located at https://goo.gl/VYnkIj .  Space is limited.  For more information, contact Joy M.
