LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Main Street Arkansas has awarded $69,329 for Arkansas projects through its Main Street Arkansas Downtown Revitalization Grant program, Governor Mike Beebe announced today.

Labor force data, produced by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics and released today by the Department of Workforce Services, show Arkansas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased one-tenth of a percentage point from 7.7 percent in April to 7.8 percent in May. Arkansas’ civilian labor force declined 3,600, a result of 1,200 more unemployed and 4,800 fewer employed Arkansans. At 9.1 percent, the United States’ jobless rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. - - Simmons First National Corporation recently announced the promotions of Sandy M. Richard to vice president within the corporate marketing group and Leslie M. Gober to senior loss share accounting officer in the finance group according to J. Thomas May, chairman and chief executive officer.

Richard joined the marketing group in June 2010 after serving as student loan business development officer at Simmons First for the previous 14 years.
