UAPB to host Rural Small Business Connection event

PINE BLUFF, Ark. - In support of Secretary Vilsack’s implementation of President Obama’s agenda to put Americans back to work and create an economy built to last; the Department of Agriculture (USDA) will host Rural Small Business Connections Wednesday, June 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the S.J. Parker 1890 Extension Complex Auditorium at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB).

This training event will provide small businesses with a series of educational networking sessions and opportunities on how to build capacity and successfully do business with USDA and other Federal agencies.

EPA selects Pine Bluff site for investment grant to boost economy, leverage job creation

DALLAS (EPA) - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today that the city of Pine Bluff, AR, will receive $200,000 to clean up a downtown site. Nationwide, 171 communities will receive 264 grants totaling $67 million in brownfields funding to clean and redevelop contaminated properties, boost local economies and leverage jobs while protecting public health and the environment.

“Over and over again, we have seen how Brownfields grants can kickstart the revitalization of a neighborhood,” said EPA Regional Administrator Ron Curry. “These grants will help Pine Bluff’s economy and increase the sustainability of the downtown community.”

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Easter Seas) -- Easter Seals RENEW Recycling is hosting a Community Shred Day in which individuals, schools, churches, and businesses can drop off their paper and secure documents at the Center for Training and Wellness, and we will shred/recycle for free. People can drop off old bank statements, tax returns, bill stubs, and e-waste such as old computers, phones, and printers.

No extended hours at post offices on tax night

No extended hours at post offices on tax night

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (USPS) – Millions of Americans wait until the last minute to file their tax returns. This year is no different. Filers have until 12 midnight on Tuesday, April 15 to drop off their completed returns. The Postal Service will not be adding any additional window hours or collection times.

Officer in Charge Paula McDore is urging customers to be aware of this change. "The latest window hours and collection time is 8:00 p.m. at the Little Rock Processing & Distribution Center located at 4700 E. McCain, North Little Rock."

"Customers can be assured all mail dropped in the blue collection boxes at the Processing & Distribution Center location until 8 p.m. will receive an April 15 postmark. Although the deadline is Tuesday April 15, customers are urged to drop off returns as early as possible," says McDore.
