Church hosts community BBQ

Oak Park Church of the Nazarene at 2400 West 31st Ave. is hosting a community Barbecue May 11, 2013 1p.m. - 5p.m. There will be free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks. The first 30 moms will receive a gift!

There will be all-age sports such as basketball, badminton, volley ball and even toddler activities. Six local agencies will be onsite to inform the community of the services available like Tri-County Rural Health Network Inc., DHS Prevention Resource Center, Access, Teen Pregnancy Prevention Inc., and more! The Interested Citizens for Voter Registration, Inc. Pen or Pencil: Writing a New History will hold a press conference with speakers Mayor Debe Hollingsworth, Interim Police Chief Jeff Hubanks, Jefferson County Sheriff Gerald Robinson, Circuit Judge Earnest E. Brown, Jr. Sixth Division Circuit Court, Jefferson County Judge Dutch King, Pine Bluff Branch NAACP President Wanda V. Neal, Deputy Superintendent Pine Bluff Schools Rudolph Howard, Pine Bluff Fire Chief Shauwn Howell, and President of Pine Bluff School Board Piccola Washington. The press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, May 01, 2013, at 11 AM at the ICVR office located 2315 South Olive Street. Purpose: The Children's March against Gun Violence and for "Mentors." Relay for Life 'Lunch on the Landing' fundraiser

The City of Pine Bluff Relay for Life team will have the Relay for Life Lunch on the Landing Fundraiser tomorrow, April 26 from noon – 2:00pm.

Due to the chance of rain it will not be outside as planned, it will be in the City Council Chambers at 200 E. 8th Avenue.  This event supports the American Cancer Society.  The menu will include hot dogs, sausages and nachos.

The price for the meal is $5 and an extra $2 for the upgrade.  Come out for the cause and enjoy the food, fun and fellowship!

Breakfast to benefit Relay for Life

The Mayor’s office in their effort to raise funds for Relay for Life has a city-wide fundraiser scheduled this Friday, April 12, 2013 from  9 – 11 am in the Council Chambers.  The breakfast will be $5 with all proceeds going to Relay for Life, thanks to Interim Chief Jeff Hubanks and Deputy Chief Susie Powell who are the sponsors for the breakfast. 

The City of Pine Bluff has set a fundraising goal of $4,000. So far they have raised $1,662.

Relay for Life is an annual event that is held to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Shalane Jenkins of Bethel African Methodist Church, Warren, Arkansas will deliver the Annual Women's Day sermon during the 3:00 PM Afternoon Worship Service.
