Man arrested after failed beer theft attempt

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) -- Pine Bluff police say Christopher Clark, 39, was arrested after getting in a scuffle with a convenience store clerk.

According to the report, it all started around 6 pm Wednesday evening when the clerk allegedly caught Clark attempting to steal beer.

Clark was gone by the time police arrived, but then police say he later returned to the store with a gun.

The report says Clark pulled the trigger, but the weapon malfunctioned. That's when police say Clark started scuffling with the store employee.

The fight lasted until police came and arrested Clark.

He's charged with attempted murder, aggravated robbery, theft, battery and other outstanding warrants. He is due in court for a hearing Thursday.
