Laura Davis shot, Ronnie Davis killed in Sheridan shooting

SHERIDAN, Ark. (KTHV) - A man allegedly shoots his estranged wife, and after fighting for the gun with another man, is shot and killed.

Police got a call just before 10 p.m. Saturday that there had been a shooting at an apartment on S. Rose Street in Sheridan. Police say they arrived within minutes and a man on the balcony said someone inside had been shot.

When police got inside, they found Laura Davis lying on the floor. She was still breathing and had a pulse. She was taken by Med Flight to a local hospital. No word on her condition at this time.

Ronnie Doyle Davis, 30, was found dead inside. According to another man inside the apartment, whose name has not been released, Davis shot his estranged wife. He says he and Ronnie Davis fought for the gun and he shot Davis in the face. Davis died instantly.

Sheridan police do not have any history with the couple. Laura Davis had lived in Jefferson County and recently moved to Sheridan.

Police are continuing their investigation and will turn over the case to the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor's office will then determine if any charges are filed.
