Officials fight spread of Chronic Wasting Disease

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Last month, The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission confirmed an elk was the first case of Chronic Wasting Disease in the natural state. Since then, two deer have also tested positive for the deadly disease.

While the disease can’t be contracted to humans, it is still something Arkansans should take seriously.

Pine Bluff Arsenal hosts holiday event

Pine Bluff Arsenal hosts holiday event

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - Pine Bluff Arsenal’s Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host a holiday bazaar on November12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Creasy Auditorium.

The auditorium is located outside Plainview Gate, in the Creasy Complex. More than 15 vendors will be present.

This event is open to the public.

Pine Bluff PD to demolish derelict housing

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - Individuals who have completed probation or parole through the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections are helping the Pine Bluff Police Department demolish abandoned houses. 

The demolition of the derelict housing in Pine Bluff is set to begin on Monday, October 19 at 8 a.m. Funding for the program is administered by the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections.  Around $830,000 will be allotted to demolish 600 derelict houses in the city over the next two years. 

The address of the first demolition will be at 1506 W. 19th Street.

Pine Bluff Hosts the 2015 Student Angler Federation Southern Conference Championship

PINE BLUFF, Ark. - The Bass Federation/Student Angler Federation is coming to the Arkansas River for their 2015 Southern Conference Regional High School Fishing Tournament on Saturday, October 17. 

The top 10 percent of teams in each state championship advance to a conference championship. Qualifiers from AR, KS, LA, MO, NE, NM, OK and TX are eligible to compete in this event.

Takeoff will be at 7 a.m., and the weigh-in is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park.

During the tournament will also be fishing clinics and demonstrations, a children’s fishing derby (at Martin Luther King Park) and activities for the public, which will take place at the Waterfront Facility in Regional Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

This event is sponsored by the UAPB Aquaculture/Fisheries Center, Pine Bluff Parks & Recreation and the Pine Bluff Convention & Visitors Bureau.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark - Not even a nearly record-breaking hot day could prevent the excitement around the show and entertainment behind the outdoor event on the 4th block of Main Street in downtown Little Rock at the Big Night.

Little Rock’s very own native and TV news personality, Keristen Holmes, returned home to host Big Night, presenting returning designers and new designers as they showcased their clothing lines while models strutted in the designer’s collection on the runway at the seventh annual Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW).
