Jazz Cats come to Arts and Sciences Museum

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Come enjoy blues, swing, bossa nova and Dixie sounds 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at the Arts & Science Center’s Live@5 monthly music series.

The Jazz Cats, made up of Arkansas musicians, get together as often as possible to play for parties, receptions, dances and special events.  They have played numerous live jazz venues in the area such as coffee shops and JJ's Bar and Grill in Conway and Parrot Beach in North Little Rock.

The group consists of Wendy Parham from Leslie on keyboard, Dr. Ron Wise from White Hall on sax and clarinet, David Yarbrough from Vilonia on bass and tuba and Bob Murphy from Mountain View on guitar, steel guitar and Dobro guitar as well as vocals.  For bookings call Ron at 870-247-3712 or Wendy at 870-447-2810.

PINE BLUFF,Ark. – The Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (PBCDF) and the Pine Bluff Chemical Activity (PBCA) will host a ceremony commemorating the completion of chemical weapons disposal operations at Pine Bluff Arsenal.

The event is Thursday, March10 at 6 p.m in the Pine Bluff Convention Center at 500 East Eighth Ave. Please arrive promptly.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB)/Economic Research and Development Center and UAPB Business Support Incubator will collaborate with the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce to offer a FREE Arkansas Procurement Opportunities Pre-Conference Training Workshop Thursday, March 17 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 p.m.

Held at the Business Support Incubator located 615 South main street, the pre-conference training will get your company ready for business matchmaking. Doing business with the government, large corporations, and business-to-business has helped many small companies grow and develop. The conference team will teach small businesses how to fulfill eligibility requirements.

HOPE Community Coalition will host our "We Aim To Be Tobacco Free" Workshops on the third Saturday in the Months of March, April, May and June. The workshops are for youth ages 8-16 in Jefferson County, and will be held at St. Mark United Methodist Church 4229 W. 6th St. Pine Bluff, AR. 10am-2pm *Lunch Will Be Served*

Our workshop topics are: Tobacco's Health Effects, "The Hazards of Second Hand Smoke", "Risk and Consequences of Smoking" and "The Tobacco Media Trap"
