PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Pine Bluff High School will host a rally-style assembly to motivate its 900+ students to begin their pursuit of a college education.

Award-winning media personality Michael Adrian Davis of Little Rock’s Hallelujah FM will highlight the event as featured speaker.  The event will include performances by the PBHS cheerleading squad and marching band, as a part Say Go College Week, an effort lead by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, to help Arkansas high school students academically and financially prepare for college.

The rally is Friday, Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. in the PBHS gym.

CAMDEN, Ark. – The city will host one of south Arkansas' largest job fairs and training workshops, The Camden Job Fair, on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. It’s at the Ross Center Auditorium, 746 California-SW, Camden, AR 71711.

The 2011 Camden Job Fair offers an amazing opportunity for Camden and South Arkansas attendees to meet face to face with some of today’s largest companies about current and future openings in the area! CAMDEN, Ark. - The deadline to enter the SAU Tech talent show is Wednesday, Feb. 16. Auditions will be held Thursday, Feb. 17. There is no entry fee.

The first place winner gets $100. Second place receives $50.

PBR returns to NLR, features El Dorado native

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Professional Bull Riders announced that 2008 Rookie of the Year and El Dorado, Ark., native Reese Cates is among the riders scheduled to compete against the fiercest bucking bulls at Verizon Arena on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to Cates, other qualifiers from the 2010 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals scheduled to ride include Cord McCoy, Josh Faircloth, Caleb Sanderson, Billy Robinson, Mark Lopes, David Kennedy, and Pete Farley. McCoy, whose determination and positive attitude have made him a fan favorite in the PBR for years, was a runner-up on the CBS hit “The Amazing Race,” along with his brother Jet in 2010. The duo is scheduled to return to CBS for another season of “The Amazing Race,” beginning Sunday, Feb. 20.

Tickets for the Touring Pro Division event begin at $10, plus applicable ticket fees, and go on sale Wednesday, Dec.

Book club meets every second Sunday

Book club meets every second Sunday

CAMDEN, Ark. - “Simply Books” is a book club which will be introduced and led by library staff members. It is an informal book club for adults designed with all you book lovers in mind.

“Simply Books” is a combination book talk and book club. Bring your favorite book to discuss, and learn what other people are reading.

The schedule for upcoming meetings is on “Second Sundays,” so the next meeting is Sunday, Feb 13.
