Easter Fashion Parade March 19 at UAPB Fine Arts Center

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- The Jefferson County Single Parent Scholarship Board is gearing up for the Third Annual Easter Fashion Parade. The fashion show is on Saturday, March 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Center.

Coordinated by Alamae Harris, the show will feature the latest in women’s and men’s fashions from area retailers. Commentators, Dr. Kaye Crippen and Kalari Turner from UAPB’s fashion merchandising and design program, will bring their own blend of insight and experience. The event will feature food, a silent auction, vendors, door prizes and live music from the Gloryland Pastor’s Choir. Guests may also take photos with the Easter Bunny.

Proceeds will go to support the Jefferson County Single Parent Scholarship Fund. For ticket information, call Lozanne Calhoun at 870-543-5952.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Jefferson County Arkansas Children Week Family Play Day will be Saturday, April 9 at the Former Stage Building at the Pines Mall.

This is the largest family play day event in the State of Arkansas for children’s week. A variety of family service providers were a part of the Arkansas Children’s Week Family Play Day Planning Team. They include Academy of Learning, Arkansas Delta Resource Center,   Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY),   Jefferson Comprehensive Care System, Inc.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -  The National Alliance of Faith and Justice (NAFJ), a Washington, DC based organization, has selected the Interested Citizens for Voter Registration, Inc. (ICVR) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas as the National Demonstration site for the PEN OR PENCIL Initiative on mentoring.

Pine Bluff ICVR will work in collaboration with the National CARES Mentoring Movement, United Way Worldwide and the Association of Black Psychologist, Inc. to build the capacity to sustain and strengthen PEN OR PENCIL in Arkansas by implementing a 12-month mentoring framework. Cities that are also participating in the Juvenile Mentoring Multi-state Initiative along with Pine Bluff include Birmingham, Atlanta, Washington Metro DC, Project Village (Louisiana, St.
