Preliminary investigation points to space heater as fatal fire cause

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) – A 95-year-old Pine Bluff woman died in a fire early Tuesday morning that preliminary investigation shows started from a space heater.

Chief Shawn Howell with the Pine Bluff Fire Department said the woman was home alone at the time of the fire that engulfed the house on the 5600 block of Kennedy Street. Her name has not yet been released.

In addition to wanting to remind everyone to be very cautious during this cold spell in Arkansas, he told THV11 that it was a very unfortunate accident and his prayers go out the family.
