PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) – Family members are shocked with feelings of despair as they wait to hear if the body found this morning is that of Maranda Goldman.

Detectives with the Pine Bluff Police Department investigated an anonymous tip that there was a body in a wooded area northeast of the intersection of 38th and Ohio.

Around 8:35 a.m., after an extensive ground search, a badly decomposed body of a white female was discovered.

Goldman told her mother she was going to fill out a job application the afternoon of Thursday Oct. 8 at the Goodwill store in Pine Bluff. She was last heard from after leaving the store around 4:30 p.m. Her car was found in the parking lot.

Due to the extensive decomposition of the body, the body was sent to the state crime lab for positive identification and to determine the cause of death. Reports stated that there was no obvious sign of foul play or any other indication of how the person died.

"I just don't understand because one driven down this road every weekend since she's been gone; to the mall, to Lowe's, and hanging fliers. To know that we were right here. We dot know that it's Maranda yet, but we still have hope," family friend, Clarisa Howard said.

Howard said until the family gets that confirmation, they will be in limbo, and will continue to pray for Maranda's safe return.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Detective Division at 870-730-2090 or the Dispatch Center at 870-541-5300.
