New push to save Pine Bluff's Saenger Theater
News

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - After vandals hit a 100-year-old landmark in Pine Bluff, there have been renewed efforts to restore the Saenger Theater.

The city bought the building from a non-profit group in 2012, but the building has continued to sit vacant. They had been trying to restore it, but grant money ran out.

Since then, the city has been trying to figure out what to do with the property. This latest vandalism is spurring the former owners to get involved, with specific donors in mind.

"We need banks, and we need big corporations. And what do they get out of this? Well, it's tax deductible," said Kathy Majewska.

City leaders are not sure how much grant money may be out there, but Majewska said she would go through the application process free-of-charge.
