Man shot, killed in Pine Bluff

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - A man is shot and killed in Pine Bluff over the weekend.

At approximately 1 a.m. Saturday morning, March 17, Pine Bluff police officers went to a home on South Richard Street about gunshots. When they got there, they found a man, Taraence Lamar Franklin, 26, lying in the home's driveway. He was unresponsive and appeared to have a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Police say during their investigation, they learned Franklin was visiting a friend when police say someone kicked in the front door armed with a semiautomatic handgun. Police say Franklin chased the intruder into the front yard where gunshots were exchanged.

Police say Franklin was fatally wounded and when he was walking back across the yard towards the house, the collapsed in the driveway. Franklin's weapon was found at the scene.

Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene. His body will be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.
