PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Three candidates will contend for the title of Miss University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Friday, April 22 at 6:00 pm in the John McLinn Ross Auditorium of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Center. Admission is $5 for general public and $2 for UAPB students with an I.D.

 Two finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges at the pageant. The student body will make the final vote electronically for the 82nd Miss UAPB who will serve in the 2011-2012 school year. This is the first year the title has been chosen in this manner according to Elbert Bennett, administrative coordinator for Student Affairs.

Contestants for the pageant are:

Tiffany Katoria Anderson, a junior biology major from Stone Mountain, Georgia who believes that, “Your past is not your potential. In any hour, you can choose to liberate the future.” Following graduation, she plans to attain a BSN in Nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and start a career as a traveling Nurse;

Alisha Brenai Dowd, an advanced senior majoring in agriculture business from Pine Bluff, Arkansas favors a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Upon graduation, her future aspirations are to attend a prestigious university  to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications;

Jamie Rachelle Robbins, a junior majoring in English from Pine Bluff, Arkansas who emphasizes that one should, “Never underestimate the power of prayer!” She plans to attend graduate school, coach little league softball and become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.
