New rankings show Benton Co. is healthiest county in Arkansas

Arkansas (KTHV) - The 2015 annual rankings for healthiest county in Arkansas have been released.

Rankings announced by the American Heart Association show that Benton County is the healthiest in Arkansas, while Lafayette ranked the least healthiest. 

According to County Healthy Rankings, the five healthiest counties in Arkansas, starting with most healthy, are Benton, Washington, Boone, Saline and Faulkner. 

According to recent studies, the counties that have the highest rank in health also have higher college attendance, fewer preventable hospital stays and better access to parks and gyms. The least healthy counties tend to have more smokers, more teen births and more alcohol related car crash deaths.

Pine Bluff police searching for gas station car thief

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) – The Pine Bluff Police Department is searching for locating a man responsible for a stolen vehicle at a local gas station on Sunday, March 15.

The incident occurred at the 2500 block of Cherry St at about 6:18 p.m.

According to police, the victim stopped at a gas pump and went inside the establishment. However, when he returned, his vehicle was gone.

Body of missing man found near Gurdon

CLARK COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Clark County Search and Rescue crews have found the body of a missing person.

Sheriff Jason Watson said the body of 24-year-old Wesley Livingston was found Tuesday sometime around 7:30 p.m. five miles from the Georgia Pacific plant in Gurdon where he worked.

Livingston was reported missing March 10. Following the issue of the missing person report, Clark County Sheriff's Office along with Ashley County Sheriff's Department, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Game and Fish Department, Arkadelphia Police Department, Gurdon Police Department, the Clark County Office of Emergency Services and other law enforcement agencies throughout southwest Arkansas joined efforts in the search for Livingston. 

According to police, the initial discovery of Livingston's body suggested that his death was self-inflicted.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (UAPB) – Raye Jean Montague, internationally registered professional engineer, will be the keynote speaker for the Lyceum event at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB).  Sponsored by the UAPB Lyceum Committee in partnership with the STEM Scholars Academy Guest Lecture Series, the free, public event will take place Thursday, April 2 at 11 a.m. in the STEM Building Conference Center.

Montague will give a presentation entitled, “Turning Obstacles into Challenging Situations” at the event to share her amazing life story as a young African-American girl growing up in Arkansas that dared to dream of one day becoming an engineer.

Pine Bluff police investigating homicide at Plaza Hotel

Pine Bluff police investigating homicide at Plaza Hotel

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - Officers responded to a homicide around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning at Plaza Hotel located at #2 Convention Center Drive.

When police arrived at the hotel, they found a man lying on the ground with possible gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Christopher Pridgeon, was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Eric Belcher. 

According to officials, details are still being developed at this time, and no suspects have been identified.

PBPD searching for man supected to be armed, dangerous

PBPD searching for man supected to be armed, dangerous

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - The Pine Bluff Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a man considered armed and dangerous.

According to a post from the department's Facebook page, police are currently trying to find Tamarcus Tarshay McMiller, who is wanted for aggravated assault on a member of his household.

Pine Bluff police searching for Valero robbery suspect

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - Pine Bluff police are still attempting to locate James Dixson III for the aggravated robbery of a Valero gas station at 3000 E. Harding in Pine Bluff. 

Dixson, 34, is standing at 5'9" tall and goes by the nickname of 'Husain'. He is considered by police as armed and dangerous. 

Anyone with information concerning the location of Mr. Dixson is asked to contact the police dispatch at (870) 543-5111 or the detective division at (870) 730-2090.
