Ross to Visit Pine Bluff as Part of Statewide Tour Announcing Run for Governor

WHAT: Former small business owner, state senator and U.S. Congressman Mike Ross will speak at an event in El Dorado as part of a statewide tour announcing his campaign to seek the Democratic nomination for governor of Arkansas.  Over the next ten days, Ross will be visiting more than 30 communities across the state laying out his vision for Arkansas’s future by focusing on education, economic development and job creation.  Ross officially announced his campaign from his hometown in Prescott, Ark., on April 17.

Cotton holds town hall meeting, veterans assistance session

Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) will hold a town hall meeting in Hot Springs Village on March 25, 2013 from 8 - 9 am in the auditorium. The event is open to the public and to the media. Constituents will have the opportunity to hear brief remarks from the Congressman and ask him questions. Immediately following the town hall there will be a staff-led Veterans Assistance Session in room 1 of the community center. Members of the Congressman’s staff will be available to provide information and answer questions about VA related issues.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Arkansas Community Organizations will hold a forum for candidates running for the Pine Bluff City Council on Thursday, October 11 at 6:00 PM at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center at 211 W. 3rd Avenue.  In addition to the city council candidates, the organization will also hear from candidates for state senate, Jefferson County Judge, Jefferson County Sheriff and City Treasurer.  Issues to be discussed include: jobs, wages, crime and programs for youth.

Democrat, Green, Independent, Republican candidates to participate in debates

CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) — Candidates in four races have agreed to participate in “Election 2012: The Debates,” which will tape and air on the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) Oct. 23-25.

All debates will be held at the AETN studios, 350 South Donaghey Avenue, on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway. Seating is limited, and seats may be reserved by calling 800-662-2386. Doors will open one hour prior to taping times.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Student Government Association (SGA) at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff continues their campaign on political awareness with a forum on Tuesday, October 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the J.M. Ross Theatre of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Complex. The free, public event will include candidates running for City Council, City Treasurer, County Clerk, and other offices.

The goal of the event is to increase awareness and understanding of the political process. “We wanted to get involved in the effort to rebuild Pine Bluff and Jefferson County,” said Carlton Brewer, SGA Vice President.
