WASHINGTON D.C. – Senator Mark Pryor today said that he is looking forward to spending August discussing economic development in the state. The senator will attend the following public events this week.

Lawmakers announce funding for 6 south Ark. airports

WASHINGTON (KTHV) - U.S. Congressman Mike Ross (AR-04) and U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman announced Tuesday six south Arkansas airports will receive U.S. Department of Transportation funding for repairs and new construction at their facilities.

Airports receiving funding are as follows:

Camden - Harrell Field

The Camden Regional Airport Commission will receive $144,941 to rehabilitate a runway at Harrell Field in Camden. The existing runway pavement has reached the end of its useful life.

Crossett - Z M Jack Stell Field

The city of Crossett will receive $191,842 to install perimeter fencing at Z M Jack Stell Field in Crossett. The project will deter unauthorized persons and vehicles from entering onto the field.

LITTLE ROCK - Governor Mike Beebe Tuesday announced the following appointments to boards and commissions:

Lillian Arnold, Pine Bluff, reappointed to the Home Health Care Service Agency Advisory Council. Appointment expires June 30, 2013.

Bill Booker, Little Rock, reappointed to the Arkansas Cemetery Board. Appointment expires January 15, 2015.

Dorathy Boulden, El Dorado, to the Arkansas History Commission. Appointment expires January 14, 2013. Replaces Shelia Lampkin.

Eric Burnett, Fort Smith, to the Arkansas Tech University Board of Trustees. Appointment expires January 14, 2016. Replaces Dean Wilburn.

Una Carroll, North Little Rock, to the Universal Newborn Hearing, Screening, Tracking and Intervention Advisory Board. Appointment expires January 14, 2013. Replaces Debra Goldman.

Joan Cash, Jonesboro, to the Arkansas Agriculture Board. Appointment expires August 15, 2014.

Ross holds 'telephone town hall' May 10

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Mike Ross of Prescott will host his fifth call in a monthly series of telephone town halls on May 10, 2011.  Once a month for the rest of the year, Ross said he will be hosting the district-wide calls because they provide a unique way for his constituents to ask him questions, get updates on activities in Washington and hear his position on the issues all from the comfort of their own home.

The next call will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 7:10 p.m.
