Fashion extravaganza March 24 at Pine Bluff Convention Center

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Fourth Annual Easter Fashion Parade Extravaganza and Silent Auction will be held Saturday, March 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. Bridgette Odigwe is the featured fashion designer for the event.

Sponsored by the Jefferson County Single Parent Scholarship Board, the event will include a luncheon, silent auction, vendors and door prizes. Guests can also have photos taken with the Easter Bunny. It’s the first time that the event will be held at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

“We’re extremely excited about this year’s fashion parade,” said Event Chairperson Alamae Harris. “It’s in a new venue and the show will spotlight one of Pine Bluff’s own – Bridgette Odigwe, a cutting edge designer.”

The style show will feature men’s, women’s and children’s clothing from area retailers as well as Odigwe’s original designs. The Pine Bluff High School graduate has wanted to be a fashion designer since the age of 11. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in fashion merchandising and design. After completing her master's degree in London, England, Odigwe studied fashion design and modeling in Paris, France. She eventually became a college professor of fashion design and business administration, vowing to never forget her ambition to become a fashion designer.

Odigwe saw her dream realized when she founded Nwakaego Odigwe Inc., an upscale women's clothing line based in Dallas and Atlanta.

“Nwakaego Odigwe is different from other clothiers because of our variety of fabrics, detail prints, and multiple variations of color to complement and bring out the consumers skin tone and accentuate the body,” Odigwe said.

Her clothing collection consists of designer dresses, tops, bottoms, outerwear and accessories for women sizes 2-24. Among the many items that will be auctioned during the silent auction is one of Odigwe’s outfits. Other items that will go to the highest bidders include jewelry, purses, housewares and more.

Proceeds from the Fashion Extravaganza and Silent Auction will go to support the Jefferson County Single Parent Scholarship Fund. For ticket information, call Event Chairperson Alamae Harris at 870-413-9494 or Board member Jeannie Epperson at 870-692-2772.
