Improvements to Highway 46 will require lane closures in Grant County

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Improvements to Highway 46 will require lane closures in Grant County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be resurfacing sections of Highway 46. The work will occur between Leola and the intersection of Highway 46 and Highway 190. The work will reduce traffic to one lane within the work zone.

The lane closures will be Monday, September 29th through Thursday, October 2nd, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.

Routine bridge inspection will require exit ramp closing on I-530

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – A routine bridge inspection will require closing an exit ramp on Interstate 530 eastbound in Pine Bluff, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be inspecting a bridge located near the Pines Mall. It will require closing Exit 46 (Stuttgart exit) in Pine Bluff.

The exit ramp closure will be Sunday, September 28th, between 6:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.

Bridge repairs will require lane closures on Interstate 30 in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK (6-13) – Bridge repairs will require lane closures on Interstate 30 in Little Rock, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will repair the bridge deck on the Arch Street overpass. The work will require closing the eastbound outside lane of Interstate 30. The lane closure will extend east from near 65th Street (mile marker 134) to the I-30/I-530/I-440 interchange (mile marker 137).

The lane closures will be Monday, June 16th through Tuesday, June 17th, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs. The work had been scheduled to be complete June 12th, but work was postponed that week, due to weather.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - For years, we've seen public service announcements about texting while driving, but are people really getting the message? One student says, "I mean they're sad. You know, it's emotional. I just feel I've seen so many that you think it just won't happen."

THV11 News sat down with six teenage students at Sylvan High School in Sherwood, Arkansas. They admit, texting and driving is a big temptation for teenagers like themselves. "I don't do it all the time but sometimes I do text and drive and I admit that it is dangerous," Antonius Russell says.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 71 percent of teens and young people say they have sent text messages while driving and 78 percent of them have read a text message while driving.

Repairs to Hwy 35 will cause some lane closures

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Improvements to Highway 35 will require lane closures in Grant County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be constructing asphalt shoulders on Highway 35. The work will extend from four miles north of Sheridan to the Saline County line. The work will reduce traffic to 1 lane.

The lane closures will be Monday, April 7th through Thursday, April 10th, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using flaggers, cones, and warning signs.

Texting while driving simulator coming to Pine Bluff

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (ATT) - AT&T continues its mission to educate and inform students across Arkansas about the dangers of texting while driving. As part of the “It Can Wait” movement, AT&T is taking the virtual texting while driving chair simulator around the state from March 28th through April 5th. On April 4th, the virtual simulator is making its way to Pine Bluff High School to provide students a 3-D driving simulation that re-creates the eyes-off-the-road and hands-off-the-wheel experience of texting while driving. The simulator is a video game driving setup that houses a chair, steering wheel, pedals, and monitor for the driver.

Hot Spring County will have scheduled lane closures on I-30

LITTLE ROCK (2-21) – Routine bridge inspections will require lane closures on Interstate 30 in Hot Spring County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be inspecting the Interstate 30 bridges over Rayburn Creek west of Glen Rose on Tuesday, February 25th and Blakely Creek on Wednesday, February 26th and Thursday, February 27th. It’s located just west of the Social Hill Rest Area, west of Malvern.
