Remnants of Isaac floods SE Arkansas

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - The remnants of Isaac has been pouring rain all over the state of Arkansas since Thursday afternoon, leaving some areas under water.

Pine Bluff has seen a lot of rain and could get another inch of rain today. Earlier today, we saw roads covered in water during resident's morning commute.

One towing company has helped over a dozen cars from flooded areas.

The flash flooding put some motorists in a bind in Pine Bluff Friday. Some motorists were stranded in the middle of flooded roadways. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department had rescue boats on standby.

Major Lafayette Woods says he had deputies patrolling the county.

"The hardest thing was putting out barrels to prevent people from going in the streets," says Maj. Woods.

The United Pentecostal Church opened its doors to any families in need.

Pine Bluff preps for Isaac

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - Officials in Pine Bluff are preparing for Tropical Storm Isaac as it slowly makes its way into Arkansas.

"Starting at 8 o'clock it's varied.  I've seen six inches, reports of seven inches.  We really don't know.  We're just speculating," said Major Lafayette Woods with Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Officials are packing sandbags in the hopes of not having to use them, but they'll be ready if needed. They will keep an eye out on the low-lying areas of Pine Bluff for flooding.

"We can deploy boats to a specific area, flat bottom boats, to get those individuals evacuated from that area and place them in a place if they've been displaced from their homes.  Basically it's just a call away," said Major Woods.

The American Red Cross said they will place shelters in the Pine Bluff area if needed.
