HOPE (Help Our People Excel) Community Coalition

HOPE (Help Our People Excel) Community Coalition was organized in 2006. HOPE is the result of a conversation between three graduate students in the masters addiction studies program during the school year of 2005-2006. The three students, Valerie Crosby, Melissa Henry and Carol Mendenhall, decided they would involve their church in the cause of addiction prevention.

With confirmation and blessings from their pastors, they began preparation to involve their church members and others in doing what the church, has done for years and that is helping those in need. HOPE, therefore is a resource to the community and persons in need.

HOPE is made up of sectors of interest to address the communities' needs. Each has it's own goal and objectives, and individuals who are responsible for working to ensure these goals are met. The focus areas are Faithbased, Healthcare, Community, School, Employment, Law Enforcement, Elected Officials and Public Awareness.

The target areas of the HOPE Community Coalition are the communities of Jefferson County. COME JOIN US! Our meeting dates for this year are: January 27, 2011; April 28, 2011; July 28, 2011; and October 27, 2011. All of our meetings are held at the Boys and Girls Club located at 2701 Short Reeker St. Pine Bluff, AR.
